Microbial Source Tracking for Michigan Environmental Health Managers

This project will gather information from environmental health   managers in Michigan regarding their needs for microbial source   tracking, collaborate with laboratories in pilot testing these   methods, and use electronic and print media to inform managers about   which methods work best. Results will be used to make informed   choices about how best to proceed in identifying sources of   bacterial contamination.    This project had five main objectives:  (1) Survey microbial source tracking needs in Michigan  (2) Gather information about microbial source tracking methods that   might be available to Michigan-based projects  (3) Design protocols for conducting MST studies with Michigan water   testing laboratories  (4) Conduct demonstration MST projects with Michigan water testing   laboratories to provide "real world" tests of the most promising MST   techniques, and  (5) Inform environmental health managers in Michigan about the   needs, methods, costs, feasibility, and availability of MST   technologies in Michigan.    (microbial source tracking); (MST); (bacterial source tracking);   (BST)
