Sea Grant Technology Program: A CFD Model for Wave Transformation and Breaking in the Surf Zone

Objectives:  1) Adapt the FLOW-3D CFD program to the calculation of cross-shore surface gravity wave transformation in the surf zone, from depths ranging outside the break point to the swash.  2) Verify wave transformation and breaking simulations with existing field observations of in situ wave pressure and bi-directional current, the spatial and temporal location of breaking waves, and the leading edge of the runup along the beach face.
