Developing an Effective Approach for Communicating about the Risks and Benefits of Fish Consumption

Project objectives:  1) Examine how the level of health risks and benefits associated   with fish consumption affect consumers' decisions regarding   consumption of fish (a) for themselves, and (b) what they would  recommend for women of childbearing age and children.  2) Determine whether existing health risk and benefit information   communicates the necessary information to consumers and if not, how  they can be improved.  3) Determine how existing health risk and benefit information impacts  consumer decision-making with regard to fish consumption.  4) Determine and contrast the longitudinal effects on consumer   decision-making of a fish consumption brochure and educational  program.    This project has been submitted to the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant  College Program during their recent call for proposals.    (fish consumption); (fish consumption advisory); (fish consumption   advisories); (human health); (chemical of concern); (chemicals of   concern); (risks of fish consumption); (benefits of fish consumption)
