Targeted Phosphorus Reduction in the Pigeon River Watershed

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) will reduce phosphorus loads from the Pigeon River Watershed to address Saginaw Bay’s designated use impairment. MDEQ will use agricultural best management practices at targeted sites in the Lower Pigeon, West Branch Drain and Upper Pigeon subwatersheds, which will reduce phosphorus loads by over 5,000 pounds per year.
