Great Lakes Restoration of Native Fish Species

This agreement will provide funds for the recipient to implement a competitive grant program to support studies, and the planning and implementation of restoration programs. Fish that have become extinct from portions of the Great Lakes include, lake trout, several species of ciscoes, deep water sculpins, and lake sturgeon, are each important to the Great Lakes food web. Funded projects will investigate and promote suitable environmental conditions for native species, and include the physical reintroduction of native species and assessment of those reintroductions.
