The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) will provide tree assessment tools to communities to strategically restore urban and community forests and to assess and protect ecosystem and stream health. The USFS will use a wide array of assessment tools to help identify priorities and develop urban and community management plans. These plans will then be used within the projects to plant trees to increase tree canopies, to improve water quality, and to improve wildlife habitat. The project will be completed by June 2012.
