Chicago Lakeplain Wetland Restoration Partnership Program

The project will restore 705 acres of lakeplain habitat at nine sites in the Calumet region. Through this work, the project is expected to reduce nonnative and invasive vegetation by 90% and increase native plant diversity by 25%. This project will improve and expand habitat for many rare and imperiled species, including Blanding`s turtle, the federally threatened eastern prairie fringed orchid, and the federally endangered whooping crane.
